Thumbs up Thumbs down Thursday #14

thumbs up thumbs down picture

Another Thursday, another Thumbs up Thumbs down post. Read here for the back story of why I started this.

I found some wonderful posts this week so I am excited to share them with you.

thurmbs up

Thumbs up to Becca & Stephanie at Falling Into First for hosting a great Linky called How Do You Celebrate Student Birthday's You can link up and share what you do to celebrate birthdays, or if you are tired of your ideas I am sure you will find something new and fun that someone else does. I do have a question for you, do you celebrate 1/2 birthday's for those kiddos that have a birthday during the summer? I have a summer birthday and I was always sad to NEVER celebrate my birthday at school...not one of my teachers did 1/2 birthdays :(

Thumbs up to Ms. B at Buzzing with Ms. B for her post called– Nonfiction: If I say it Ten times it's probably IMPORTANT! She uses the song Octopuses Garden as an example of something being repeated to show what the song is about, which can be applied to just about any nonfiction book!

Thumbs up to Ms. Wainwright from The Diary of a Not So Wimpy Teacher and her blog post about Student Led Conferences. She has some GREAT information on the how's, the why's, and the pro's about student led conferences. If you teach older grades this post is a definite must read.

Thumbs up to my new milk frother/steamer. I got it for Christmas and it is by far my favorite gift. It steams the milk and makes great foam, who needs Starbucks when you can make it at home...oh and it makes the best hot cocoa ever!

thumbs down

Thumbs down to all the people that HATE Obama and can find nothing but hatred, fault and disgust with everything that he does, doesn't do or says. You don't have to like the guy or even agree with him, but you don't have to be so mean, prejudice, and hurtful with what you say about him...Aren't you tired of being a bully?

Thumbs down to my mother-in-law not being with us. She died back in 1985, 3 years before I met my husband. I never got a chance to meet her and she never got the chance to meet her 2 amazing granddaughters. Today would be here 87th birthday and so we celebrate an amazing lady, one in which we wish we had been able to hug, and laugh with, and get to know.

Thumbs down to the flu! I hope you are all healthy and avoid this nasty flu! If you haven't done it already, get that flu shot! If you have gotten the flu, I wish you mild symptoms and a speedy recovery!

Do you have any praises or vents you would like to share? Someone suggested I turn this into a monthly linky, would it be something you participate in? Just curious...

Enjoy your day!

  3. Hi Shawna

I LOVE reading your Thumbs Up Thumbs Down posts and would love to see it as a regular linky. I would definitely join in.

PS - agree totally about Obama. In the run-up to the election I was appalled at some of the things I was hearing. For what it's worth, he enjoys huge worldwide popularity, and definitely over here in the UK. We'd welcome him with open arms over here... :-)

    1. Thanks Sue! I just don't know why we have accepted disrespect in the name of free speech, but I won't go on.
